That is a quote by one of my favorite comedians, Billy Connolly.
It's simple, and funny...one of the most difficult forms of comedy writing.
Writing something that other people will(hopefully!)smile or even laugh at is both challenging and rewarding.
I have spent most of my life trying and hopefully succeeding to both write and illustrate humor, It has become, I suppose a bit of an obsession, and some of my best ideas have come to me when I've actually been asleep/waking up!!
I started many years ago by writing and drawing cartoon gags and then sending them into national newspapers. After many years of rejection in which I more than once decided to give up, I finally succeeded in selling my first cartoon to The Daily Mirror. Oh, the joy of that first letter of acceptance will stay with me forever!
After that, I graduated into writing and designing humorous greeting cards, eventually setting up my own publishing company called Graphic Humour which is, alas no more.
However, I am back to freelance work now which I really enjoy!
I hope my story helps anyone out there with a dream to never give up on it!
